Pursuant to the Federal Lawyers’ Act (Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung (BRAO)) lawyers are obligated to maintain professional liability insurance with a minimum insured sum of EUR 2,500,000. In case of disputes between lawyers and their clients, as long as they are consumers, a mediation request may be filed with the mediation board for attorneys of the Federal Bar Association, Neue Gruenstr. 17 in 10179 Berlin (see sec. 191f of the Federal Attorneys’ Act (BRAO)).
